Group Childbirth Preparation Classes: cultivating confidence in childbirth

Join Laurie Vaughn to talk everything birth. Whether you are planning a hospital, birthing center or home birth, it is essential to be empowered through education. I can’t wait to come alongside you through your pregnancy in support and encouragement. These classes will equip each mother and her partner with knowledge of the birth process, realistic expectations, and decision making tools to have a successful pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum period. The curriculum includes five sessions with lots of hands on learning, demonstrations and open discussion. Some topics covered in the classes are:

·      Overview of Pregnancy and how to handle common discomforts

·  Proper nutrition and exercise and how to prepare your body for birth

·      Relaxation and breathing techniques

·      The Partner’s role

·      Create a birth plan and learn birth options

·      Signs and stages of labor

·      Comfort measures and coping techniques

·      Postpartum healing and newborn care

·      Tips for successful Breastfeeding and Baby feeding

Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm at The Schoolhouse in West Ashley. This class series is $50 per couple, and anyone can attend so feel free to bring anyone else who is supporting you through this journey. Husbands, partners and doulas are encouraged to participate. Private Childbirth Preparation Classes: A more intimate and personal version of the group classes with much more one on one time, held at The Schoolhouse in West Ashley scheduled at your convenience and tailored to your specific needs and desires. This option consists of three 2 hour classes for $250 or $100 per individual session. Contact Laurie to curate the perfect Childbirth Preparation package for your birth experience!
